Carla Capshaw
A Florida native, Carla Capshaw is a preacher’s kid who grew up in church. Her first memory is of giving her heart to Christ at the age of four. When she was ten, she watched a biography about Marco Polo for her fifth grade history class and decided then she wanted to accomplish two things in life: travel and write books.
Following the Lord’s leading, she earned a Bachelors degree in International Studies from the University of South Florida, and a Master of Theology from International Theological Seminary. Over the years, she’s been blessed to visit forty-eight states and twenty-five countries, including a year spent teaching English in the People’s Republic of China.
Building on those experiences she began writing in the fall of 2000. She loves passionate stories with compelling, nearly impossible conflicts and has found Inspirational Historical Romance is the perfect vehicle to combine lush settings, vivid characters, and a Christian worldview.
A 2004 and 2007 Golden Heart winner, she’s been privileged to win numerous writing contests sponsored by Romance Writers of America chapters around the U.S. and Canada. On November 15, 2007, she got “the call” and her dream of becoming a published author finally came true. Her debut novel, The Gladiator, was released by Steeple Hill Love Inspired Historicals in the fall of 2009 and became a double Rita finalist in the spring of 2010.
Currently working on the last book of her Rome series, she still lives in Florida, but is always planning her next trip…and plotting her next story.
